LLEWELLIN SETTER PUPS AVAILABLE NOW
Chloe whelped a new litter on October 14, 2005. She had 8 males and 5 females. While most of the pups have gone on to their new homes, we have 1 male available. He is beautiful but the person who reserved him could not get him. Tucker is pointing and obsessed with the pigeons Mel keeps for training. Mel is beginning to train him so his price will go up in another month or so as he is started.
These foot hunting gun dogs are terrific bird dogs but also wonderful pets and companions. A look at the pedigrees show they were bred to be excellent hunting dogs. Talking with an owner of a Llewellin will convince you that they are truly fantastic companions.
As with the last litter, we handled and played with the pups so Tucker is well socialized. He has wormed, initial shots given and heartworm given monthly. A shot record and health certificate will be given to the new owner. Dew claws were removed at 4 days of age.
The dam, Mel's Dancing Blizzard (called Chloe), and the sire, Wingswept Dandy Dan, are registered with the FIELD DOG STUD BOOK. The litter was registered and new owners will be provided with the form to register your dog.
Mel's Dancing Blizzard's hips are certified GOOD by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, Inc. (OFA). Wingswept Dandy Dan's hips are certified GOOD by the University of Pennsylvania Hip Improvement Program (PennHip) and GOOD by OFA. Both are physically sound and over 2 years of age.
We are not professional breeders. Both of us have full time occupations but love Llewellin Setters. After our beloved setter died when she was 15 years of age, Mel found Chloe at Singleton Bailey's website. Mr. Bailey had a litter out of Highway Dan and Bailey's Blizzard Lucy. From the beginning it was clear that Chloe was an exceptional dog. She has great hunting instincts, while remaining a good and gentle companion. She is also a terrific mother.
Dean Harris, owner of Wingswept Dandy Dan, has been a mentor to Mel. He did the initial training of Chloe. She took to hunting immediately. As Mel hunted with her and discussed her character and abilities with Mr. Harris we decided to breed her. Mr. Harris' Dan is a young, beautiful chestnut male and was the perfect sire.
